Honestly, about why I’m taking a break
When I started Still life, I knew I wanted more than just another concept store or jewelry brand. I wanted to create something with soul. Something rooted in real people, honest craftsmanship, and the beauty of everyday moments. I also made myself one promise back then: to never stop asking why I do this, and to always speak openly. So here I am, writing.
Maybe you’ve sensed for a while that something has been shifting. The quiet on social media, fewer new pieces. It’s been a time of reflection, uncertainty, and a deep internal struggle. Running a brand completely on my own, from design to customer service, isn’t just a job. It’s a way of life. Beautiful, but also exhausting.
The past few months haven’t been easy. Not just for me, but for many small brands that rely on local craftsmanship and a personal approach.
In a world overflowing with mass-produced jewelry, fast fashion, and constant trend cycles, it’s becoming harder to hold your place. Not because what we create lacks quality, but because surviving in this environment without investors or a big marketing budget takes everything you’ve got.
Still life has always been a heartfelt project. And that’s why it’s so hard to admit that it can’t continue in its current form. I don’t want to lose what makes it special. So I’m slowing down, giving myself space, and thinking about what comes next.
What does this mean? I’m ending production of most current designs. Around 80% will gradually disappear. A small selection of meaningful pieces will remain, and I’ll be focusing more on custom-made jewelry and smaller, curated collections. The pace will be slower, more mindful, and more intentional.
It also means I want to give space to a new project I’ve been working on for over a year and a half. It’s deeply personal, rooted in my heritage, memories, and traditional craftsmanship. I can’t share more just yet, but I already know it gives me hope and a renewed desire to create something different.
A farewell sale - As part of this pause, I’m launching a clearance sale of most Still life pieces. It’s a way to say goodbye to one chapter, and a chance for you to get something you may have been eyeing for a while.
Most pieces are now in stock in limited quantities. Once they’re gone, they won’t be coming back.
To you, our community, the most valuable part of it all
If you’ve ever supported Still life with a purchase, a message, or just by following along quietly, thank you. This brand has existed because of you. It kept going through the hardest moments thanks to your support.
The brand may be slowing down, but I’m not going anywhere. I may return with a different energy or in a different form, but I’ll stay in touch. I’ll keep writing. Soon, there will be an update about what’s happening behind the scenes and what’s coming next.
If you're curious about what a new beginning looks like, keep following. Everything will continue to be honest and from the heart, as it always has been.
I’m always open to hearing from you. Feel free to write, share your thoughts, or just connect. I’d love to know what Still life means to you, what you hope for in the future, or anything you’d like to say.
Even if the brand slows down, this connection is still alive.
Thank you for being here with me, and for staying.
With love,
Tereza
